As professional graphic designers, listening is a proven approach. We must always listen to the clients and it must start right at the beginning of every project. Listening, especially in the brainstorming stage, lessens problems and misunderstandings that can happen along the way by clarifying what clients want right from the start.
We should give importance in learning to listen, accepting criticism and refraining from being defensive. When criticisms on the revisions are unreasonable, we should be given the chance to question, basically asking why it needs to be revised and the reason behind the suggested change. A designer should bear in mind that the end goal of listening is to make the negotiation smoother, quicker, and productive, through informed and positive responses.
