Interdependency could hardly be achieved when clients have fixed mindsets and when companies require strict compliance to a manual for graphic design. A fixed mindset closes any avenue for cooperation, as some clients prefer designs that are not recommended by the graphic designers. This is usually based on client’s personal taste which might be misguided, or which may be based on careless designing.  As for those in the corporate industry, employed graphic designers shared that imposed guidelines or presets limit their creativity as well as their capacity to actually negotiate. Non-negotiable format, colors, tone, and symbols demanded by companies may possibly ruin the designer’s plan.

For some freelancers, they manage to accommodate the fixed mindsets of difficult clients for business sake. However, they have to safeguard their artistic reputation by disassociating from their unwanted designs and not including them in their portfolio.
